Let me further simplify your decision-making process.
We know that each piece of tech thriving in the market at present is going to be outdated by the continuous inflow of its Start by Asking few questions during your pursuit of taking Decisions.
What is the primary purpose for your Laptop purchase?
The most important part of the journey is to understand the basic reason for which you are looking forward to investing your money. Let me suggest a few quick questions that you may ask yourself?
Q1- Why do I need a new laptop?
This is the most important and confusing question. Most of the students and professionals make the biggest of mistakes at this very junction. Let me tell you that you don’t require any technical knowledge to answer this question but still making mistakes is something that only a few are able to avoid.
Here is a list of situations and Reasons that someone might be considering regarding his / her new laptop Purchase.
- You are a regular high-school student who have to follow online lectures by your school teachers and is not interested in activities other than google meets, Zoom Sessions, streaming youtube, watching 1080p movies and using Office application packages.
- You are a student who is keenly interested in computer gaming (1080p resolution max) but also need to do every other task as mentioned in the point above.
- You are a hardcore gamer who need a device dedicated to gaming.
Q2- How much budget do I have to invest on this new device?
This is a question that people don’t normally discuss in public but is one of the most important factors defining your purchase. There are various options available today which would really help us mitigate any financial difficulties if applicable. Buying online using credit cards could become easy with zero interest installments and a small downpayment. You also have great purchase options from E-commerce stores like Flipkart and Amazon. Old product exchange, Refurbished products are few among many great options to choose from.
Also, let me inform you that there is nothing such as free lunch and therefore it’s obvious that zero installments on any purchase are already covered under the basic cost of the product, so you can obviously go for it if you want to take advantage. But be aware that some banks also have few hidden clauses in schemes that are easily bypassed by many customers, and in many cases, I have personally witnessed banks charging installments after a certain time period of the product loan, so make sure that you go for the installment scheme only after complete research about the offerings being made to you.
Having complete knowledge of the features that you need to purchase will save you a great deal of money and also from inconveniences faced by many who go for investing into something that they have not properly researched.
The remaining issues will be discussed automatically whilst explaining the right product to purchase as you move forward in your decision-making process.
You are a regular high-school student who have to follow online lectures by your school teachers and is not interested in activities other than google meets, Zoom Sessions, streaming youtube, watching 1080p movies and using Office application packages.
The entire working culture is almost shifting towards online platforms since the start of the covid 19 pandemics. So is the case with the education system in the entire world. Online classes and examinations have become a new normal. Softwares such as zoom, google meet, youtube lives, and other similar platforms have seen an exponential increase in the number of users from around the world.
As a matter of fact, there is huge uncertainty about the timeline for which such a culture will continue to trend. With viruses growing stronger with time we are and will keep on witnessing drastic changes around us.
Amongst all these students now need a laptop device more than ever to follow up with their daily academic routine. Following are the points that students must keep in mind before purchasing their device:
The processor is also the brain of your device doing all calculations required to give your that seamless performance. For a student who is not involved in heavy computing tasks such as gaming, graphics design, or simulation a list of widely used mid-level processors is listed below:
AMONG ALL THE MODELS THAT YOU MAY FIND, The below-given processors are my personal recommendation;
AMD Athlon™ Mobile Processors with Radeon™ Graphics
Responsive, Reliable Laptop Computing for Everyday Users.
Armed with advanced AMD processor technology, AMD Athlon processors deliver the performance you need to surf the web, video chat with friends and family, stream movies, and do anything else you need to do on the go. All with great battery life, and incredible value.
AMD Ryzen™ Mobile Processors with Radeon™ Graphics
The Ultimate Performance for Notebooks with Uncompromised Battery Life.
With the most cores available for ultrathin notebooks to deliver instant responsiveness, AMD Ryzen™ 5000 Series Mobile Processors give you the ultimate performance to work and play, from anywhere – faster than ever before.
Processor Power Consumption
With respect to power consumption processors are categorized into two types:
- Series U
- Series H
H indicates that the CPU is equipped with more powerful graphics, these are high-performance chips great for high-end gaming and used by brands like MSI in their serious gaming line-up of laptops. U signifies that the CPU has “ultra-low” power consumption.
So if you are looking for a device that might help you with academics, low power consumption is what you need. So go with a U series processor.
Choose the operating system
Windows 10 is one of the most popular operating system today. You may find it pre-installed in pretty much every laptop these days. It is easy to use. You can install any software, be it productivity to entertainment to games. Depending on what you’re studying, there might be specific system requirements such as Mac OS or Linux.
This is something to consider. Of example, if you need a software package that runs on a Mac, you won’t be able to do that on a Windows laptop. However, a MacBook or a MacBook Pro is expensive, but you can choose to install Windows on it as well. Laptops running Linux might be more affordable than ones that come with Windows pre-installed. This might save your money, but you’ll need to spend a bit more to get a copy of Windows.
Choose the graphics card
There are two types of graphics solutions found on laptops – integrated and discrete. The integrated ones are typically slower while the discrete ones are more geared towards performance. If you are going to use your laptop for playing basic games or just for browsing, watching movies, a laptop with an integrated graphics card is perfectly fine. Discrete graphic card solutions on laptops are typically powered by AMD or NVIDIA. AMD calls their cards Radeon, while NVIDIA calls their solutions GeForce.
These GPUs (graphics processing unit) come with dedicated graphics memory which lets them handle graphic intensive software and games. If you are studying a 3D or computer graphics course, a discrete graphics card is essential. Of course, the other benefit is being able to play high-end games on your laptop. NVIDIA’s entry-level graphics solutions are labelled as GeForce 930M, 940M, whereas the mid-range offering start with the GTX 950M and above. AMD’s low-end graphics solutions start from the Radeon R5 going up to the R9 series of GPUs.
A high end gaming device will also embed good processor and chipset which makes the investment go higher and costlier.
I would recommend opting for NVMe- SSD storage. HDD (both SATA and ATA ) are outdated technologies and take a lot of loading time and reduced speed.
SSDs in general are more reliable than HDDs, which again is a function of having no moving parts. SSDs commonly use less power and result in longer battery life because data access is much faster and the device is idle more often. With their spinning disks, HDDs require more power when they start up than SSDs.
